How do I apply for a house?

Self Assessment Form: This is designed to let you know whether it is likely that we would be able to help you by giving an indication of the number of points you may receive. This self assessment form is only for your purposes and does not reflect the point award you may be entitled to. This form can be collected from our office or requested via the telephone.

Application Form: to put your name on our waiting list you need to complete an application form and return it to us. It is useful to us if you add as much detail as you can and complete all sections. We will then check to see if we need further details. If we do we will contact you, if not we will assess your housing situation and send you a letter advising you of how many points you have been awarded - this process takes 2 to 3 weeks.

Points are awarded based on housing need, so when a property becomes available we approach those people with the greatest number of points to see if they are interested in becoming a tenant with us.

Mutual Exchange

Any one who has been a tenant of a social landlord (i.e. the Council, Housing Associations and Housing Co-operatives) for six months or more can exchange their house with the tenant of another (or the same) social landlord.

We keep a list of people in the Glasgow area who would like to exchange their home with someone else.If you are interested in having your home included in this list you should complete a mutual exchange form (available from our office). If you then express interest in another property we will write out to the tenants asking if they would be interested in your home. If both parties are happy, then a written request for a mutual exchange can proceed.
